Endangered Species Project- Getting Started

West Parish students were invited to participate in an art show to raise awareness about endangered species.
The finished pictures will show an endangered marine animal that lives in the Atlantic Ocean between Maine and Virginia and the things that are a threat to these animals.  Here are some drawings students created from observation to start this project.

Students will be completing this assignment in the style of self described, picture writer; Eric Carle.  Thank you to high school student intern, Bethany Lloyd who brought in a short video showing Eric Carle working in his studio creating beautiful papers, and assembling a collage.  We have learned a lot about this magnificent artist.  One thing I learned is he is just as lovely a man as he is an artist.  What a treat for us all to see!!

Also, thank you to the Fulford family who continue to supply the art room with wipes, and paper towels and other usable treasures!

SAVE THE DATE:  The annual Gloucester Arts Festival is Saturday, May 12th.  All West Parish students will have art work displayed in the show. Some students will be performing in the festival as well.   Stay tuned for more information about the Art Festival.  I am looking for a couple of parent volunteers to help hang work, and take work down.  Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks to everyone for all of your support for the arts!  - Mrs. Morgan
