Creatures of the Night

Please come by to view the artwork of our students on Wednesday night October 24th.  There is a variety of work on display from all of our students in grades k-5.  The work is "Fall Themed", and ties in with the MA Art Curriculum Frameworks.

Originally, the show was only going to feature work from grades k-2, but the third, fourth and fifth graders keep churning out some wonderful art, so it is only fitting that their work be included in the show as well.

Immediately following the art show, there will be a presentation on "Creatures of the Night" sponsored by our incredible PTO.  It should be a fun night celebrating the expressive arts, and some curious creatures!

I hope you enjoy your child's creation, as well as the creations of their classmates.  Doors open at 5PM.

Square 1 Art update:
I will be shipping finished artwork on Tuesday the 23rd.  Thank you to Mrs. Francis who has helped with the organization of this process.  Your child created an original work of art centered around a universal theme.  Here is a list of those themes:

K& 1- flowers in a garden
2- Observing Leaves
3- Landscape
4- Under the Sea
5- Favorite Animal

I am always open to suggestions for future themes.  Please let me know if you have any ideas.  Every year is a learning experience.

Being sensitive to your child's creation- It goes with out saying that there is something magical about a child's artwork.  The nice component to this program is that every child will get a free sheet of stickers of their artwork.  In the event that families don't order a product from the Square 1 art program, every child will walk away with something, which is really nice.  I will double check, but I believe students will also get their original artwork back.  There is nothing better than their original artwork, in my opinion.

Talking to your child about their artwork-  What is clear as day to them, might be a mystery to you.  I have learned when talking to your child about their work, it is important to say "Tell me about your work..." rather than, "What is that?!"  This allows them to explain their process, which might be the beginning of a great conversation.

I am interested in hearing your feed back about the Square 1 art program.

Thanks so much, and I hope to see you all on Wednesday night.
